Overall, our clear impression is that there is a positive mood and optimism in the real estate market, and many are willing to invest. We had many good dialogues and networking meetings with project and hotel developers, consultants, architects, pension funds, private equity funds, institutional investors and private and international investors, many of whom were ready to buy/develop residential, hotel, industrial and logistics properties. With low vacancy rates and a lack of construction in recent years, there is a strong desire to invest in residential projects, both new builds and existing properties throughout Denmark.
In the project market, many are currently awaiting local plans or building permits and are ready to get started. Compared to the last few years, many are keen to break ground very soon because of the market. There are also more people who are in the market to get more capital to invest. And more developers are looking at owner-occupied housing rather than rental housing, so we will probably see more owner-occupied project sales in the coming years.
It is always very rewarding to meet both existing and potential new customers and partners – both the many Danes, but also the international ones. We were able to do direct business, strengthen relationships and present our customers’ cases and future cases to the real estate industry.
We always use events like MIPIM to present the cases we have on the shelves to relevant investors.
As always, we met many from our international partner JLL (Jones Lang Lasalle), one of the world’s largest real estate companies. They are represented in more than 80 countries with a turnover of DKK 147 billion kr., more than 106,000 employees, and we at EDC Poul Erik Bech are pleased that we are JLL’s partner in Denmark and continue to expand our collaboration.
Last but not least, we were again co-sponsors of @byggesocietets ‘Den Danske Strand’ and @Estate Media Denmarks ‘New Nordic Lounge’, where, as always, we had many good and constructive dialogs. We are already looking forward to next year.
If you would like a follow-up dialog or to hear more about the trends at MIPIM, you are very welcome to contact our MIPIM delegation.
